Modification- 9450 hoe drill

It was time to rebuild one of the jackshafts on the ground drive of the 9450 JD hoe drill. Looked pretty simple until I looked at the pan it runs through that protects the drive chains from the packers. Didn't look like much fun so I slotted the pan above the jackshaft and added braces. Our machines tend to stick around a while so it will make future repairs easier too. JD quoted me $140 for one side of the clutch gear, so I Ni-Cad rod welded a heavy washer to the cast to bring the clearances back up, and put in an aftermarket washer at a fraction of the price of the JD. one. Should be good to go for less than $20. I was thinking about extending the seed boxes up to run further on a box, but that isn't happening this summer.... maybe next year.
