What draper head is better?? The Case IH 3162 vs MacDon made 2162

Hello
Two years ago we purchased a 2014 demo 30ft 3162. It was basically brand new.
The first year... 2017 we covered about 1000 acres of soybeans and it did ok, not as good as I had hoped but was still expecting to work the bugs out.
2018 was not so much fun. After going over 150 acres of beans the center drive went out. Fortunately it had a 2 year warranty but thought... wow the sickle drive died after seeing 1200 acres. And yes we maintain our equipment meticulously. Also we really had a hard time shaving the ground as we used to with our 2020 head.
That said we have an option to trade for a very clean and low acre MacDon 2162.
We have some contoured and rolling fields so a bit uncertain on the difference in flex, etc.
Just looking for some honest thoughts and comparisons from any of you who may have experience with either of these heads.
Thanks you so much in advance for your thoughts.

My caseih salesman said he would never sell me a 3162 Draper. Only a Macdon............
Think that says it all

There’s quite a few threads on here about your exact question. Have a search in the archives

I’d say 9 out of 10 respondents would say Macdon.

aussie.ltd. likes this.

Square box........
Round pizza.......
Triangle pieces....

Iam confused......

We run a couple 35 ft 2162 since 2013 I can't see myself using anything else. Lodged grain is not a problem anymore also do a great job in soybeans you just take time to make sure header weight and wing balance correct

Local NH dealer will not sell a CNH header unless customer insists.
Demoed a 10.9 with a MacDon.
Sold the 10.9 last week, took a 780 in. So a good demo.

Same here...CIH dealers sell MacDon heads. How BAD does a OEM head have to be before a dealer will not sell & service it (all of which makes him money?) Bad enough his rep is on the line and the customer might switch to JD!

AHHC specialist

Barn
So I just talked to a CaseIH combine specialist a couple days ago and he specifically told me that those heads were not ready when they were launched, but the deal with MD was up and they had to launch or go without. That said he told me that there are numbers updates for those heads, including the center knife drive which he said was an issue on the 62, not so much the 52, that are I believe he called them PIP? which basically means Case will update the head at no charge to you. Only thing he said is sometimes availability is not great.

So I would have your dealer check it out, there is probably a few updates out there for you.
