I will have to try this. Did try your tighter concave setting last Fall on canola and have to say that did not notice anymore cracks in sample. Of course at time was having to be extra careful(ie very slow) with some 36' quite heavy canola swaths and think having concave set that tight likely prevented me from having to try and bend that bloody awful, big wrench.
I know so little about combining I should take other people's advice more often. I just know when they are not working it gets very expensive.
We seemed to crack more canola on our cx the more it returned. Opening the concave or slowing down cyl made it worse in lots of conditions. Really dry seeds were the exception (8 moisture and under)
It’s a lot easier to open concave then use the slug wrench unless it’s packed so tight the concave won’t open.
