CX8080 variator belt issue(s)

It a tough Fall on people and equipment. I suppose I may be the only one who has ever had one of these blow and than the shredded belt tears out some very expensive wiring/harnesses? Curious how others handled - insurance, cost, etc. Still in early stages here, but this may be the single, most serious repair have ever had on one of these.

The belt is "only" $1300 so it not real big. However, the wiring/harnesses that it took with it would seem much bigger. 450thrashing hours on this one that went through pre-inspect. Did not ever replace one of these on older on that had closer to 900hours.

I changed it last year on a machine that had canola leak into it and f*k the belt, was 950$.

The wiring harnesses aren't repairable? They are beaucoup dollars. We've always just spliced and heatshrinked them, the wires are all numbered so it's just tedious.
