He had too much damage to the grain with all the sweeps that year which was a year the rice easily damaged. He took them out and has never put them back on. I have no experience with rice. It's a bit hard to stop and play around when your head is down and your bum's up. We are not all like JR

So he removed the thresher sweeps and all the wires in concave and that preserved the quality of the tender rice? Hard to believe sweeps can cause damage. Maybe removing the wires from concave was the biggest trick to get the rice out of straw and prevent hitting it to many times with rasp bars??

He removed the wires from the concave and put on a full set of sweeps. He's not interested in putting the sweeps back on although it would be interesting to see the ones back on the thresher side. He is happy the way it is which I suppose all that matters.
