I have been looking for a nice 2208 corn head that I can install calmer chopping stalk rolls on. I have come across a nice 2212 that seems to be priced right. I'm thinking if I went that route I coujd drive slower and do a better chopping job. My main question is can a 2388 actually handle a that size in high moisture (25-32%) corn at 180-240 bushel and not throw it out the back?

What's actually the problem with the 2000 series heads? Some have told me they were good and the 3000 is junk others have told me opposite but never any details. The reason I'm looking at the 2000 is I'm looking to install calmer chopping rolls and that's the only red series I can do that to. Would I be happier with a 893 or 1293 jd on my 2388?
the 2000 series used a different rool design / bearing set up. Down corn does not feed well into 2000 series. CIH has gone back to the 1000 series roll design in their 3000 series heads. I have heard of 2000 series roll bearings causing angst, but I did not keep mine long enough to experience bearing angst. Love my 3406 head

3000 series feeds like crap if there is any moisture at al on the plants. Will pile on the deck plates, have to run them wide then nubs fall threw the gap. Shelling is a nightmare.
2000 series either had fluted rolls or knife rolls.
Loved the 2000 hate the 3000.
