Could a 2188 could run a 12 row corn head without any trouble?

Guys do run 12 row 30" corn heads on **88 machines, but you're pushing the limits of what the machine wants to do. You'll need the third lift cylinder, if you don't have it already. You will also need a lot of weight on the rear end to hold it down. We had to add several hundred pounds to the back end on a 2388 to pick up an 8 row corn head. The 2200 series are heavier than than the old 1000 series.

I had a 2212 on a 2388 will do alright if you like to go slow and you need a lot of weight on the back

We ran a 12 row 30 inch on our 2188 for a couple years, but it is a load. We put 1800 pounds of weights in the rear and filled the rear tires w/ fluid. You'll need a heavy duty spring update for the feeder house engaging. In our opinion the machine doesn't have the capacity to run the head. We are going to use an 8010 this fall on the corn head.
