I have a 1460 that I replaced the tube around the rotor & the concaves to those of 66 series machine. The concaves are large wire. My question is do I still remove every other wire for corn & soybeans. The opening is going to be larger (1.5"x1.375" appx.) than before if I take them out. The corn this year is wetter and there is more damage occuring.

I disagree with goalie on the removal of wires for soybeans. You will have more unthreshed pods in your sample because the beans just fall thru the concaves too fast. I have done this idea for years....install a small wire concave in the first position of the rotor. this will allow the beans to be heald in the rotor to get threshed, but will allow small fines to exit. Follow me. H.
