Currently running a 86 1660 very happy with it. But I'm looking at a 93 1644. would this be a downgrade?? Or is the 1644 the same size as the 1660(capacity,etc,etc). Will the 1644 handle a 25 bean platform(40-65 bu.soybeans) 60-85 bu. wheat or a 6 row head 150-240 bu corn. All kinds of help would be great.

Early 1644s had the light final drives and transmission like the 1640s, Later 1644s have the same final drives and transmission as 1666s. IMO that is the major thing to watch for on a 1644.
The 5.9 Cummins is a great engine, lots of power, easy on fuel.
It will handle a 25' head if you are not in a hurry and does very well with a 6 row corn head. We had a 1644 for 8 years, very good machine. The main reason we traded up to our 2366 was the light final drives on the 1644.
