I was trying out my new to me 1688, and found out that shortly after heading thru the field, the head will not go either up or down. If I idle the engine down to 1700 rpm, I can raise and lower the head, but once up to full speed, it won't move at all. Any ideas what would cause this?

Finally figured out the problem. The charging system was acting goofy, so I assumed that was causing the problem. Turns out the oil pressure switch on the engine was going bad. When the engine is running, the oil pressure switch energizes the circuit for the valve solenoids such as the feeder raise and lower. My oil pressure switch was going bad and opening the circuit.
