What liter engine does a 1992 9600 have

Did the '92 model have 260 hp?

the 260 hp engine was an option in the early model years but I know some went out with 230..... I am not sure if it was a different engine though or just a different power rating.... because I think our old 9500 had the same 466 but rated at 215 hp in it.... the 30 hp made quite a difference in heavy crops I am told.

'93 and '94 brochures both list the 9600 with the 215 hp 6076, and the 260 hp as an option. Same engine, both turbocharged and aftercooled. I don't know if there are any obvious visual giveaways as to which is which. Checking serial numbers with a dealer would help.

I'm thinking about buying a 9600. I have seen some listed as corn and bean and some as small grain. What is the difference?

Most 9600 combines have dual-speed cylinder drive and variable speed feederhouse drive. These are corn and bean...will cut any normal crop....small grain combines usually have single-speed cylinder drive and may or may not have a fixed speed feederhouse drive

Look for the dual speed drive. We have it on the 9500 and we love it in beans, buckwheat and canola. It's a quick switch and keeps better tension on the belts at slow speeds.
