Firstly, I don't work for Stats Can or any other surveying company. I grow durum and with today's prices I'm thinking she's wall to wall next yr. That's if good seed can be found where fus was a huge issue. I think places that don't traditionally grow it will be, considering what what wht is worth. Given a normal yr prices will fall hard if acres go in that I'm anticipating. Personally I'm planting the acres I usually do along with some Pasteur.

Prices are already falling as the mills are finding a way to use a lesser quality Durum for milling. There is a lot of durum out there in the bins they just have to get it blended off. New crop price durum is only about $1 to $1.50 higher than spring wheat. The die hard durum guys ive talked to that always grow durum are pretty discouraged after selling a lot of $2 durum at harvest this year.

Most say wht won't yield like durum. It's like canola Invigors used to be "king" for yields now the others are catching up. Wht has made huge advances in varieties and are getting right up there with durum. I like growing some wht just to have some you never know what can happen.
I kept a little durum back on speculation, but the majority is sold, at the prices we had a month ago to sit and wait for more didn't make sence.
