Dear Great Silver Fleet,

Welcome to the newest episode of the Gleaner Roadshow. For this episode, we’re going to take a look at getting your best return on investment in a combine and all the different places that opportunity and challenges may lurk when it comes to harvesting. We’ll do it while revisiting places where these different attributes really make the difference on the sometimes-thin line that separates profit and loss. See the roadshow here:

Another enjoyable video, Thanks GS7
What is the future for Gleaner with the introduction of the Ideal? Will it be here in years to come?

Everyone needs to calm down with the Gleaner vs. Ideal rhetoric. While nobody was paying attention, AGCO announced 4-5 years ago (maybe longer now) that they were working to cut the number of combine platforms they manufactured worldwide from 7-8 down to 2. They are getting close now with the Gleaner (and its variants) being platform number 1 and the Ideal (and its variants) being platform number 2. If you look at what is being introduced in South America, China, North America and Europe--it will all boil down to these two "platforms". Just because the models look different doesn't mean there are that many differences "under the hood".

If you listen to AGCO's quarterly investor meetings, this has all been talked about for quite some time. The interesting thing is that combines (and Global Series Tractors) are the first major "platforms" to be globalized. Many of the tractor models are next. They can build them as a Valtra, MF or Fendt (don't kid yourselves Challenger will stay around for awhile in NA, but it will eventually be extinct everywhere else). It's amazing how much of the components are already shared across platforms. Each brand gets a few different options/details/items to differentiate themselves or to be made to work "locally".

The problem is that Gleaner owners are become extinct. Agco don't seem to push it here in Australia
Same here Silverrod, my area once had over 10 dealerships, now 0. I'm the only one left running them. Sad such a great combine gets such little respect. They are the most underrated combine that can do what others can do with less effort. I won't ever run any other brand.
