My 2166 took some rocks last season. The first section is a bit banged up. The right hand support bar ( behind the right front tire) has a nice bend in it.

The machine has about 2300 threshing hours.

I am wondering whether I should replace the concaves. Do i lose performance as the concaves wear? Do concaves wear?

also, whose concaves should i be looking at?

Am i right in assuming i will use less power with new concaves?

Also, my neighbour just ran wheat with new Kuchar concaves, and he is really impressed. Should i be considering them?

I am in southern Ontario, running corn, beans, wheat.

My mechanic (case ih combine specialist at the local dealer) told me to pound them straight and run em. He said they have straightened many far worse than mine, and that they don't really wear out. Thats his opinion i guess. Other local farmers say they don't really wear out either. They do lose their square edge for sure, but they still work just as well.

this is what im being told anyway.
