2166 Instrument Post LCD Backlights ALL Burned out

Got a chance to work on a few of the problems on this 2166 that I traded for. The backlight on the LCD display wasn't working. There are eight #7219 bulbs in the two LCD's. And they are all burned out. Seems odd. Maybe one or two, but all of them? I'll replace the bulbs but I'm wondering what caused this. Any thoughts?

Got to thinking a little more about this. I wonder if the voltage was spiked either by jumping the batteries or hooking them up incorrectly? Still pondering why all 8 bulbs are burned out.
