I was combining corn all day, on the last bin full , I went to swing the auger out to unload. The auger dosnt move. Never been an issue before. Checked and found the fuse was burnt out , replaced it but still not working. Any advice on where to start to look?? Combine is 1997 CIH 2166 no previous electrial issues.

Hi

First thing to check is if fuse is blown again.
Check wiring and switches that indicate when auger is out and in.
Seems like that is where most problems happen.

the other first thing is to see if it will manually by pushing the end of the electric solenoid in behind the left hand door trace your hoses you'll figure out which one determines whether it is electrical or hyd. limit switches on the tube can mess it up as well FT

I have had to replace the limit switch up at the elbow before but If the obvious things look ok, Check the ground stud behind the service door on the right side of the cab. I had problems with my unloader last year and found that the nut had come off the stud and the ground came loose.

If you are repeatedly blowing fuses you have a bad coil on the valve stack.

You could also have wire harness damage caused by the cotter key on the unload swing cylinder pin. Had a customer 2366 randomly blowing fuses until I found that the cotter key was catching the wire harness and had shorted one of the wires.

Thanks for all the info. Turns out it was a loose connection somewhere in the relay- fuse panel area . Had pulled some relays for inspection and when we giggled the relay bank , the auger started to work. Ran it all day without incident. After the harvest is done , I will take some time and look a little further to see if it's a loose wire under the panel.

To tell if you have a bad coil back probe both coils on the unloader valve at the connector with an ohmeter. Should be about 6-8 ohms. Lessthan that means the coil is shorted and will blow fuses
