i need to get an auger extension for my 2188 and I see that you can buy one that goes by the elbow. I was wondering if this one has any downfalls to it. i would prefer that one over the extender model because I'd prefer to keep the factory rubber boot. Although I may end up putting both on if I purchase a 36' Macdon 974.

Like extenders. Had on our 9500's and our 8120. No issues if follow instructions. Gain good clearance. Could add boot in sure if want to. Just need to modifying a bit. Never noticed any difference unloading on the go other than more room. All positive.

We put the short one by the elbow on 4 years ago on 2388 no problems at all use it with 35 foot draper

Make double sure you align the flighting properly, or you'll incur serious damages. In the transition from vert to horiz elbow.
