I forgot about this issue from last year until I put the header on yesterday. We bought a 30' 973 last year and the combine has a hard time raising it up enough to even put the feederhouse lock down. Usually takes several tries to get it high enough.

any thoughts on what the issue is?

Tech I spoke with last year thought said it should lift it no problem. Where is the relief pressure for the header lift circuit adjusted?

It should lift it easy if you have the 3rd lift cylinder. If you only have two cylinders it gets to be a problem. 97 2188 36’ 974 Macdon and it lifts it effortlessly. When lifting it all the way I have to drop the lift switch when it’s about ¾ of the way up when it stops and push it again and it goes all the way up.
Filters? Pump pressure? How fast do you have the up and down set under the arm rest.

We have our 2 cyl 2388 lift a Honey Bee 36' draper. It took some tightening of the releif valve to do it. It is on the left side of the combine by the hyd pump at the rear. It has a small rubber cap on it and it faces the rear of the machine. It has an allan screw that you will need to turn in with a 7/16" jam nut around it. Only put it in as far as you need to.

I have to change the filters, they hit 1000 hrs right away. It might be that, but I kind of doubt it. We'll see.

The up and the down speed don't seem to affect it. I have the up about 1/2 to 3/4 and the down almost to a slow as it will go.
