OK fellas I screwed up this time. I left my fuel cap off when I filled up with diesel and run all evening like that before my lines started plugging with straw and chaff. What's the best way to get this mess out so I can roll?

frankly we had a similar experience and although i removed the tank and washed it 4x before install, there were still issues after 20 hours. added kleen flo to the fuel and changed filters. continued this way for 2 years. i was sure there was no residue in the tank as it was a poly tank and had decent access for the washer and flushing. not sure what would be the final answer, but steam cleaning for several hours would be highly recommended.

Happened to me to, you likely clogged up the fuel line? Runs from tank to fuel pump? I can't really remember, anyways I tools that line off and gave it a shot with the air compressor. I had also syphoned all the fuel out of the tank. Once back together everything worked fine. I also changed the fuel filter right then, and again a week later. The whole process only took a couple hours.

I did the same thing on a 9650, except it started acting up right when I had a camera guy from AgDay riding in the cab with me...big disappointment. Anyway I cleaned out the filter screen right under the tank, which was the biggest part of the problem. I also swapped fuel filters at the same time and again a few days later. That was 2 years ago and haven't had any problems since.

Weve had that happen several times on some JD 8820's, and no matter how many times we drained it and washed it out, there was always some left. We finally discovered if we put water hose on bottom of tank and let it run and run, all of the small particles simply floated out the top, whereas if we tried to wash it from top to bottom, some straw would cling to sides. Just a thought...
