A while back someone asked about GPS for a 2388 with an AFS monitor and someone said that a Garmin 16 receiver will work and is much cheaper than the CaseIH one. That receiver has been discontinued and replaced with a Garmin 16x. This particular receiver comes with two different voltage configurations: LVS(low voltage) and HVS(high voltage). LVS is for 3.3 to 6 volts DC, and HVS is for 8 to 40 volts DC. Does the monitor provide the input power for the receiver, or do I just hook it up to the 12 volt battery power? If the monitor provides the power, what is the output voltage?

unless you provide your own step-down transformer and voltage regulator, you will get 12vDC either from the battery, cig plug, or 5-pin Metripack connector in the fuse/relay panel. (or behind the rh service door if you have an older combine).

The display never provides power.

So, in short, you need the HVS version.
