When cutting wheat, when the temp guage gets to the first line the air intake temp warning light comes on. Last fall after harvest I pulled the rotary air screen off (rear mounted) and cleaned the cooler with the power washer, the radiator is clean. I can't figure out why it keeps going off. Tried new sensor last fall in soybeans, did'nt help, put on new fan belt on Monday, nothing.

The fan bearing went out for the previous owner and the fan got into the shroud a little, I took it out and fixed it with fiberglass thinking I had the problem fixed and still no luck. Mech says to try a new header control box, before I spend $$ on that does anyone have any suggestions?

CaseIH introduced a new temp switch back in 2004-the part # is 87300499. It is supposed to be for 2003 & newer machines with the side-mounted screen, but it fits older machines just fine. It has a higher temperature setting than the older switch(part # 194346A1, which is still in the parts book for the older 2388s with rear-mounted rotary airscreens). This switch has helped a lot of our older 2388s in this regard. Also, make sure the shields on the rear of the engine are in place-otherwise the hot air tends to recirculate from the rotary screen through the radiator back through the rotary screen. If this is a 98-99 machine, you may have to remove the rotary screen and get in there to do a "superclean" job on the aftercooler-they had finer fins that plug up easier with fine dust. I think you would find that a new header controller box would be a waste of time and $$$. Good luck.

Talk about a timely thread. 103 today and that light goes off. I replaced the fan belt and blew out the radiator three times today before figuring it out. Make sure that the secondary radiator to the engine is super clean.
