We cut beans for about 12 hours today and when we put the combine in the barn I smelt a dust fire.
There was a dust fire on the front axle under the wooden auger bearing on the right side.
There is nothing else under there I could see that could have gotten hot has anyone ever had one of those wooden bearing start a fire?
They were all replaced last winter by the dealer during annual inspection.
We have shelled 400 acres of corn before starting beans.

It sounds the same as our 1688 keeps catching on fire in the rear end. we dont know for sure what was causing it but it has been on fire 4 times and we found the left chopper bearing out. changed it went 2 rounds and it was on fire again. then we started taking the covers off to get the fire out and the front concave was laying down in the bed augers busted in a million pieces. now we have different concaves the left chopper shaft is still getting hot but the bearing is cold.

REar bearing on bed auger could be out or going out putting front wood bearing to get hot. Check this bearing and make sure auger is not bent.
