2388 Vertical unload auger

Took out the vertical unload auger in a 1660 a couple times and took it out the top. On my 2388, is it easier to go out the top or down thru the bottom? Any other tricks other than watch for timing of horizontal? Am going to put on plastic flighting. I also need to replace the outside tube on the horizontal unloading. Any after markets better than others? Thanks.

The plastic flighting would probably work well in soybeans and small grains, but I wouldn't even think about trying it in rice. That stuff is more abrasive than sandpaper. Corn I'm not sure about. Maybe it'd work, Maybe not. Just depends on the plastic.
