After replacing a planetary 120sprayer hours ago on my 4830, I've been waiting for the other side rear one to go,which doesn't make spraying very enjoyable. Well at least the waiting game is over. Have many other people replaced planetary's on their sprayer, if so how many hours have the done?. Mine has just ticked over to 3000 hours.

I put about 2400 hours on a 4720 with no issues. Then 1600 hours on a 4830 with no issues, then, @ 1100 hours had a rear planetary fail (the bearing spun). Had the others checked and the other rear one was showing issues so had it replaced as well. Was changing oil every 500 hours as per the book but am now going to change at 250 hour intervals when I do engine oil and have Deere open them up and inspect annually.

Horry

If you got 3000 hrs on your 4830 and this is the first planetary, you got lucky! I replaced one rear planetary at 1200hrs. I'm in the mud (to wet of conditions) and hills and have duals. I was changing oil every 250hrs, oil was completely burnt. I now switched to changing oil every 100hrs. I also slowed my road speed down. I am waiting for my other one to go.
