I'm going to be harvesting soybeans for the first time this fall. Bought an L3 and 315 head last spring and rebuilding the head. Right now I have it stripped to the frame and starting to re-assemble with new auger floor and then feather sheets and SCH cutterbar.

I read a couple pages back about the wobble box modification and have read about the hose mod for saving beans. Is the hose mod for all conditions, or only short beans? Does it help keep rocks out like the Johnson rock guards?

I seem to remember reading about a way to re-configure one of the Gleaner heads to let it cut closer to the ground than factory by flipping some of the arms over. What model head was this and how is this actually done? It looks like a lot of pods are very close to the ground this year, but decent sized plants overall.

Any other tips for 315 heads while I'm into it this deep?

What kind of sickle and guards are you going with. I'm going to try to get one more year out of mine. My neighbors got a SCH set up and wouldn't have anything else.
