I've got a 244 corn head on my 3300. How often do you guys disassemble the idler sprocket clamp bar/float mechanism so that it move freely. This is only my second season with this and lets just say all of mine were froze in place with broken springs. I pulled it all apart and cleaned it well, replaced the springs and idler sprockets and gave the arm the sprocket bolts to a good coat of never-seize. Should this last for several years or do I need to take apart and clean it yearly? The header is stored under a shed in the offseason.

Also, can you substitute regular grease in the gearboxes or is it necessary to use the cornhead grease from Deere? Any danger of overfilling regarding seals?
