Bought a new to us 4790. Its one of the late ones (06-07 I think). The previous owner used the bale ejector to extract a bale but never retracted it back. Now I cannot get the thing to retract. According to the book I've done everything right. PTO not running, hydraulics on, flip the switch.......nothing. We have a 3 bale accumulator hooked to the thing. It works fine. The book says to put the ejector/accumulator switch in the ejector position. I cannot find that switch on this baler and I'm guessing that would be a feature on the older balers with a manual valve. Mine has the electrical connections to solenoids. I've got power at the switch and constant power at all the solenoids (which doesn't make sense to me). All the others I've ever seen only have power when you want to activate the coil. Perhaps a problem? But the accumulator works fine with this setup. It's confusing as heck. Anyone with an idea please let me know. This baler has the Fieldstar monitor and I have made sure that the ejector option is activated in the settings. Thanks for any info.

I had a (or still have a 4900, in the weeds now) and had no bale ejector but had a bunch of electrical probs but they were just about all right in the monitor connection, I had to push on the harness as I connected it, also I had to replace about every solinoid on it but when I parked the baler it had 180,000 bales on it, Ithink if a guy wanted to he could likely squeeze another 20,000 out of it but its not easy to find a home for it. If you have other questions about these things I can likely help, but I will admit I am not good with the terminology of all the parts on them

I also am not sure but I think the ejector switch was a small remote box that gets hooked to the monitor, have you talked to the previous owner about it?

Good luck!

If the ejector hasn't been used in a while they get full of dirt and freeze up. Check to see if the rails move, and then check to see if there is oil going to the cylinder that moves the ejector rails. I think you have to lock the remote on for the pickup in the raise position to send oil to the ejector!

It appears we have bigger problems. I monkeyed with the screen some more and found that it has an Error 156 which indicates that there is voltage in the switch ground (1 of 2) for the Knotters, Ejector, Needle sensors, etc. Basically everything on the upper harness has a fault in the sensor position switch. I tested continuity on the harness and it appears to be ok. I was told it was in the ground......well the ground for the machine appears to be in the power cable at the tractor. I tested it and it appears fine. I'm concerned its in the computer box on the baler. No tech at either Case or Agco seems to have any idea what to tell me. It's kind of like reliving our spring tractor problems. Sometimes I wonder why they even bother to train techs in diagnostics, just tell them to replace things until the problem goes away........wait, that must be what they already do.
