How long have the solution pumps been lasting on JD 4830 sprayers?. Our sprayer has 1700 engine hours and has pumped 1 million + gallons . Bought this unit last year and spoke to the previous owner who mentioned that the pump is original . Should I consider changing it out soon or have others had considerable more life in their pumps? Thanks .

You will see three 1/8 pipe plugs at 3-6 and 9 oclock on the pump housing. On all three sprayers I've had, these plugs wash out at about +-140,000 acres. I just take the housing off, drill out the holes and retap for 1/4" plugs. Just did my current sprayer last week. Otherwise have had no issues.

But by this time, isn't the housing getting fairly thin?

I have tapped my 6 oclock one bigger and it seems to work. 1900 hours. But it will only pump 10 gallons per acre at 12 mph. So I think I will get a new one this winter. Expensive little devil at 3 grand I think it is.

Ya you are right. Its 700 CAD for outer housing, impellar and seal. should not need other half of housing eh. Not going to try it till things slow down anyway.
The repairs listed here are all good but I found an opportunity to buy a complete new Hypro 9306 I think with a new hydraulic motor and a new spare impeller, seal kit, and gasket for under $1000. It was a couple years ago and had to be ordered in on a stock order or something so took a few months to get. I jumped at the chance to have a spare new in the box for that cost. Have not needed it yet. I got it from Kinecor, now Wajax in Nisku Alberta and Jerry was the guy that made it happen

To make along story short I changed our pump out with a spare stainless pump I picked up last year . Maybe 1 thread left on the bottom plug port . The new pump is so quiet compared to the old one I have to look at the PSI on the monitor to know if the pump is on compared to the whine that the old one made .
