Will a 540 flex fit on a 485r? Any problems?

I really need a 40 ft bean head but am scared of the older lexions? Don't want to spend the money for a new one, and refuse to buy a flex draper to put on a different combine. Not sure what to do.

Is this a viable setup, I don't have time for adjustments and repairs.

Thanks.

We have 2 seasons doing this and have had a few issues.

1. Cylinder bolts have broken 3 times. Next time we're putting grade 8 bolts in there and fixing it (maybe).

2. Feederhouse faced cracked once.

3. There are some locks that have to be put on the top of the auto contour cylinders. These will have to be installed/removed when ever you hookup/unhook the head.

Both situations happen when in soybeans and the flex of the header "out paces" the auto contour cylinders. An operator really has to watch what their doing. We are near Fargo ND so its pretty flat here don't know what your terrain is like but I would be leery no matter what a salesman told you how it WILL work rolling hills. Butler helped us and I know that Ziegler has a few machines running this combo.

GOOD LUCK!
