Looking at an 05 BG 5710 w/ 5.5" pnuematic packers. Looking for info/input on how these are panning out as far as the packers/packing. Been a concord man forever so partial to the pnuematic packers. Done the due diligence/search here on the 5710. Concerns I have are the shanks breaking. I have never broken a shank before. Has this been rectified, are some years models footage etc better or worse than others? Any info is appreciated.

I use a drill like the one you're looking at. Love the flexibility to be able to change air pressures in the packers for different seeding conditions. Don't love fixing a flat. Concord has a much better system in ease of maintenance department. Haven't broken a shank on the drill yet.

Yes changing a flat is simple now. All the hubs and bearings bushings and pins not so much fun. I can see changing a flat is a bit more involved on the gang style packer.
Thanks

We've only had a 5710 for 2 seasons (approx 8000 ac total) with pneumatic packers. Have had a couple of flats, but just added air from the tandem. Haven't had to take one apart (yet). Have broke 2 shanks so far.

had a 59' 5710 for 12 years. Was a great drill. Never broke any shanks until the last 2 years. Then I broke about 10. I did put new openers on at the time, though.
