well first of all there are plenty of 8-30 heads out there why screw around with adding more frame to make a 8r30 head. But if you are going to make a 8r20 head than I don't have any tips.
i have seen a few 20 inch row heads made from 800 series heads. something to do with the gear boxes on the row unit drives. doesnt work with 900 series heads tho
Go buy a green one already converted, there was two in the MN paper for 6-$8,000. Not much room to work on IH when something goes wrong. Not much resale on 8row20" because they won't be very wide.
