I might be in the market for one of these combines this winter. I know the 7088 is probably more like what I'm familiar with (2188) but I've heard the 7010's were good corn and bean combines as well. How do they compare and what's some opinions on these models?

At first I was considering a 2588 but thought I'd enjoy more of a hp increase and overall weight increase for a 30' flex draper and 12 row corn head. My 2188 is already putting out around 300hp, so I figured a 2588 may not be much different.

I've heard say that the 7088, 6088, and 5088's are the heritage design. As far as the setting them for corn, beans, and wheat, and general maintenance, how much different are they than a 2188 or 2388?

I have a 2188 and a 7088 and I think about 30 percent more capacity. The 7088 is nicer to service and has improvements like the spring tension feeder chain and the auger that fills the hopper that is tall enough to fill the hopper. The rad and the engine compartment stays a lot cleaner on the 7088. The 21 seems to burn less fuel but I am not sure how it it works out for the amount of work they do. The 21 goes down the field with clean exhaust and the 70 always has a dark cloud of exhaust. So far this fall the 70 with 600 hours has broke down twice, one straw spreader shaft rounded off and a few days later it would not start. The 21 with 3000 rotor hours has not missed a beat. I got the 7088 because I liked my 21 and it looked much the same but with more power. I hope I can be of some help

Have had a 7088 since the first year they came out in 09 and have been very happy with them. The machines are a lot more beefy in areas that needed it from the 21-23 series. Final drives, belts, chains and axles are all how they should be. I would say if you like your 21 and know the machine and how to set it I would go with the 7088. I don't think you will gain much to any capacity with a 7010 over the 7088, but everyone's situation is different.
