Can anyone tell me if the new 3X3 MagnaCut chopper is the way to go on the new machines. Dealer says they have heard of feeding problems and it takes a lot more power. Any comments?

I have a 2007 - 9660 with a fine cut chopper that I'm considering trading. Will the 7120 perform as well with a standard chopper, or should I consider the MagnaCut chopper? Is the 7120 standard chopper the same as a fine cut on a 7010 ? I'm 100% no-till , 1/3 Corn, !/3 Full-season beans, and 1/3 Wheat-Double crop Beans.

the 126 knife chopper is an option ao all 3 models with the 63 knife being the standars chopper. last year we had the standard chopper in our 7010 and it did fine for us, we are 1/3 beans and 2/3 corn. The beans did have many greenstems but the chopper did a good job of shredding them. I am sure the MagnaCut will take more HP and fuel. One thing to remember that with these machines you are not trying to chop and spread with just the chopper so you are able to be full in with stationary knives and still get a good spread pattern

Yes you can order a 7120 with the Magnacut chopper. According to the sales info it is smaller than the 8120 and 9120. It is going to take more hp than the standard cut but I don't think that it will be an issue. I am not sure how many knives are in your John Deere, but look at how many knives you currently have. If it is comparable to the standard cut and you feel your straw length is good go with it. Case did add a deflector on the side to help with the feeding problems. And also they designed the stationary knives to stay in the combine if they hit something.

you are right about power. CIH boys suggested to install nor all 63 additional knifes but wait a little and then install double knifes only in the spots where is the biggest knife wear. This way we will get them in the places we need them.
