In harvesting soybeans we have a random clunking noise coming from the feeder house area. Drum stops set in the high position, and feeder chain tightened to the indicator. Anyone?

Check your feeder slats. Our combine was doing the same thing. Sometimes we found loose bolts on the feeder house slats, and other times we found cracked tabs that the slats were bolted to.

Put the upper drum stop in a lower position. 2388 feeder slats on top were hitting the bottom of the field tracker (on top). See if that helps

I'll check that out. Company rep told us to run in full up position but I have little faith in there opinions. After all when was the last time a company guy ran a machine with millions of his own money at stake?

Checked slats on feeder chain, and inspected inside of feeder for signs of contact...negative.
Concluded that it must be uneven feeding causing feeder drum arms to contact upper and lower stops abruptly. Made some changes to setup of 2020 head waiting for weather to break to try again.
