A popping noise comes from the feeder house on my 7720 while shelling corn, but does not make any noise combining beans. The feeder chain is in good shape and properly adjusted, along with front drum adjustments. Can anybody help me solve this mystery?

Usually when I get feeder house noise it's a feeder chain bar with a slight bend in it, but I'm sure we have more rocks than you if you grow beans. The difference must be the extra material moving with the corn so it's got to be a slight bend. It doesn't take much to get one corner up enough to hit the removable door at the top. Other than that I would be paying close attention to the bearings in the bottom drum.

Yep, hooked sprockets will finish off a chain. The other thing that comes to mind is the different header heights and where the slide under the housing is running. Check that for worn and ripped tin on a machine of that age.
