Has anyone ever had a header clutch that won't release? Thought maybe it was full of dirt so I blew it all out and still stays engaged. I guess thats better than not engaging.

First unhook one of the wires to rule out electrical. The plate inside the clutch probably has broken its flex straps and has become wedged locking up the clutch. Your going to have to pull the big pulley off and take a look. Fun job as that pulley is heavy and its in a hard place to get to.

Yes it is fun, I had that apart on my 7700 once to adjust the air gap. As long as it keeps turning I will keep using for now. Thanks for your advice.

And if it does quit turning you can put two 5/8 bolts thru the pulley into the clutch disc hub locking it up. Did that to my 6620 a couple years ago to finish the corn.

I did not know that, you just made my day. It is still working but if it does quit I will try that. Thanks

My 4420 is bolted together too. I'm not sure I'll ever fix it "right". Seems turning it on with the seperator and throttling down and such is not a big deal to me. . . .

We had that happen to our 8820, the armature was gone up in electronic clutch, the bushings needed to changed too
