Hello,

I just replaced the right hand bearing and housing about 75 hours ago and it went out again. Any ideas as to why this may be happening again so soon??

Thank you,

If the LH lock collar is not doing its job of gripping the shaft, it can put extra stress on the RH side. Also bent shaft or worn shaft can cause the failure as well. Make sure the belts are lining up properly and the shaft hasn't worked over one way or the other. Make sure you get the shaft centered and don't lock the collar with the shaft on a bind.
Hope this helps!

If the initial bearing failure wasnt noticed and the shaft got hot, you have a warped (bent)counter shaft. More than likely this is the cause.

Thanks Guys!!

Sounds like good advice. It definately got hot the first time, will check for bent shaft!

Also inspect the area directly under the shaft near the bearing housing. The main fuel line runs underneath and the shaft may have contacted it when the bearing failed.( rubbed on it) Also if the shaft is to be replaced, replace left bearing also as long as its apart

Thanks again,

Tore it all apart today, shaft definately is warped and the fuel line is leaking! Went to town and bought $1600 worth of parts! Will be busy tomorrow!
