Anyone have an opinion about the possibility of running an 8-30" corn head on a 9400. This machine was one of the very last made and has the 9410 engine option. Seems to handle 4-36" head with plenty h.p. left over in 200+ bushel corn. Trying to save some cost switching to narrow rows. Had some concern about axle capacity.

I think you would be going very slow due to capacity but it would probably handle it. Trade me for my 6-30.

It can handle it if you have flat ground and no bin extension, you might also have trouble in high trash conditions with the shorter walkers.

If you have to pull hills loaded or run knife rolls then it would not be a good idea.

I would go with a 6-30 if it were me.

I have run an 8'30 on a 9510 in reasonable corn and it was only just doing it. Stick with wide rows and run a 6'36. You would only lose 2ft to an 8'30 then.
