So whats the deal with 8-2009 9870's headed to rbauction in Edmonton in December, these are low hour machines with 615 heads and duals.

Are the 09's that bad of a combine somebodys dumping them or what?

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess it's a harvester that is either selling out or has to get rid of them for financial reasons... I can't name a farmer who has 8 machines (or at least that isn't a harvester themselves). If they were that bad, I'm sure they would trade them in on new machines to the next dealership.

That would surprise me, seems they need a name on orders before they're built
and Deere frowns on dealers that do bogus orders.
There's something else here.

Judging by the decal location on the sides of the combine, it's either a large farmer or harvester and with only 2 hrs on some of them sounds like a forclosure type of deal (Reminds me of Snell's auction a few years ago with 2 or 3 ZERO (0) houred combines that sold).

Don

You are correct regarding the phony sold orders, Don. And if it were a crew getting new machines, they'd certainly put more hours on the combines, as well as trade them back to a dealer at a pre-determined hourly difference (and most dealers who are on the ball would have most, if not all, of those trade-ins pre-sold).

Just a wild guess, but I'd say someone's balance sheet took a nosedive and liquidation is in order.

Where did the hours come from then? The last thing you would do if you had new machines that you had to pay for in 30 days because you had put in some dodgey "retail" orders would be to put some hours on them

maybe from driveing it around on the parking lot? also we always check what hours is on our combine when we get it each year... normally it says 5 or 8 for some reason... so who knows...

My guess is that the dealer did have a name on these machines and then couldn't sell them. Most dealers had to put names on machines last summer to get the best deal, but often the customers had not actually bought them. The dealer just hoped to sell them over the winter.

When they come into the dealership and are not sold then the dealer must pay for them outright and is not eligible for any Deere financing because they did not sell to the actual person on the build order. My guess is they tried to rent them out and sell them all fall and now are going to sell them at auction to try and get cash quick because the dealership is not supported by deere on these.

The weather this spring, summer and fall has certainly put the brakes on a lot of the buying optomism that was seen in machinery the year before.
