Ok, you should have a 3 bat beater right? I have seen both, likely from replacing with older parts. Here is what I recommend, if you have a 4 bat replace 2 across from each other with serated bars and leave 2 smooth. The mounting slots are more or less to just mount evenly, put them with the tip pointed back and lightly tighten the bolts, slide them inward so the curved edge starts to touch the mounting surface and tighten the bolts
I like them, had back feeding with the 4 bat with all serated ones. I have less feeder plugging with them in for sure. Have not cut flax since I switched but I think it would be bad that way. Wheat is where they help, cant say that anything changed in corn or beans.
What type of crops are causing you problems? What type of feeder chain ya got? And what model head?
If you have a 1020 make sure the fingers are extended fully pointing forward and not down. Cut off excess auger flighting 2" to the inside of the feeder house, check to make sure the feeder chain quide plates are in and not bent up that crop is not getting caught on them, empty your rock trap regularly as when dirt gets in there it will also cause this and last but not least how are your elephant ears? Also check the veins, if it cant take it in you will see these probs.
Hope this helps ya, these combines are where I have my most talent so dont be shy, if ya need pics I will try my best to get them but I store my combines 15 miles from town so I don't get there real often
