Hello there,

I have a 04 8010 with all the upgrades and updates there is and I hate it. I had trouble in wheat and also just started milo and having more trouble. Talked to mach and they all can't fiqure it out .They called up the case rep and did everything they know of.. I guess this is just a lemon.. I am a custom harvester and traded my 2388 this year on it. Boy what a mistake. Are they all trouble are just a few?

well maxie,
First it will not keep the grain in the machine.
I have the large wire front , large skip rear, and vanes in slow position. Rotor 600 fan 900 top screen 1-1/8 wide open and bottom 1-1/8 about 1/2 open. Pre seive open very little . The fan filled up when the air was below 900 and if run low air very dirty. Case man tried to tilt leveling and everything still trouble. I would like to try another 8010 to see if there is a difference. Milo is abt 70 bu with a 53 tw and i am running 6 mph with 30 ft 2020.
Any help is appreciated
Ronnie

I don't know if this will help but here are the settings I used on our 2005 this year cutting wheat. We have a 35' 2020 and the wheat averaged 95 bupa.

Concaves

Setting on........3-4
Front 2 small wire
All skip wires after that

Sieves

All 1 5/8 corn sieves
Pre sieve......closed
Top...............18
Bottom.........15

Fan..............900-950

Rotor............780-900
Rotor has 2 sets of straight bars installed and 2 sets of spiked tooth rasp bars on the back.

Grain Loss was a very min. Ran at 4.2-5.2 mph all season.Sorry about your trouble. I hope this helps.

if it has not had the rotor cage and cone changed to the 06 style it is a POS. I doubt it has. check the cone if it has welded vanes, it hasn't . those machines did not work right. It was not a manditory update.

Hi Ronn

Talked with Jimmy today.

Did you get the rest of the updates done like you talked with him about?

We can still do the approved updates if you get the machine to us,I think! We are like really busy now.

We now have four module pickers to get ready now on top of all the combine work ,dirt moving tractors and sprayers.

I talked with the operator of the other 8010 that is running today.
He has all spikes on the rotor and round bar thrashing elements.
His vanes are all in medium.
fan around 1025
rotor a little over 900
all his sieves are very open even the shoe.
He has a 36' McDonn and really crowds it to get the loss down, you really have to keep it full.

Well for the wheat I would use small wire concave and may be slotted grates in separation also is your rear axle in the bottom hole (the rear part of machine lifted up)? What you have to doe it is keep the MOG out of sieves. Capacity of rotor is much higher then capacity of sieves. so use the rotor for cleaning as well
Any how I would newer buy 04 8010 I would newer buy any machine witch is first 3 years of production (new model)

Our 05 has the old style cage. Dealer said the only time it would have a problem and throw stuff over was in real wet, high yielding corn if you pushed it real hard. They said that the old design was easier to set though.

jdmanitoba, I'm not sure what your comment means? But one thing I do know, I want operators to post their problems on here. I don't want the posters to be afraid that it will make them look stupid because they run a certain brand or that they or the dealer they chose can't fix the problem.

I enjoy helping the readers of this web site.

old style cage was a joke. I took 6 sets of feeder chains out in two seasons. it will not feed. sends the crop over the top before it goes back. no vanes in the cone to make it move quickly on back. best time and money you'll ever spend on a 8010, is to change it. do not let any one tell you different.

I hope you get it all dialed in. I am also a custom harvester who traded my 2388 in for an 05 8010. I am learning all the settings and tricks myself. I have an 05 it had 540 hours when I bought it. I got mine from Horizon West in Scottsbluff and the dealer has been awesome with the machine. I am very pleased and have had great sucess. It walks the dog on my other 2388s. The sample is twice as clean with the sieves being opened way more. I dont know if my settings in wheat will help you but I have my concave at 1.5 the rotor at 1000 and the fan at 950. Bottom sieve is open about 1/2 inch, top sieve is still a 1 5/8 corn sieve and is open about a 1/2 inch presieve 1 1/8 barely open. I have the sieves elevated up in the high position on the rear of them. Each man has his his own personal settings but from my experience in the past with an afx rotor in the 2388s in wheat I have always had to have my concave tight and the rotor speed high to get a good thresh and get the grain out of the cage. I have 500 more acres of wheat to cut with it then I am starting on barley next week so I will have to find the honey settings for barley. I hope you the best of luck and if you get it dialed in wich you should it will be a beast.

Wow I agree with you but have you ever read the threads in the JD section, I guess not.

And don't bother posting about a problem with a Lexion cause that would make you a troll as they are flawless.

This so true midwest, i want this web site to help everybody of all colors, am not putting you down jdmanitoba, put as you know this is normal at the JD threads. It would be GREAT if all of us can get along. As you can see I'm a John Deere Tech. so if you bash JD you can understand i will talk back to you. I know all products that company's make are not top of the line, there are some and it is very very very very few that should be scraped, but some if you work with them they can shine for what the are made for. The 8010 is a great bine, some just need a little more help.

midwest keep on helping, this will make this CTF great.

Don.Boles i bet you a ...cough...pop that this will change the CTF with my speech.
