We have an 9400 JD combine, 1990 with 3000 hours on it, and while doing wheat today, just stopped moving? Anyone else have similar problem? doesnt seem to be electrical? could it be the transmission with this many hours on the unit?
Is the lever on the hydro. moving, is the shifter lever move easy, no noise, couplers to the final drives ok, all hydraulics work, anyother things that do not work.
We tore apart the gear box and found the main shaft was warn along with its coupler, so now we wait for the parts to arrive Wednesday morning. A nice weekend lost, hopefully the rain stays away to finish the wheat when we get it back together
what I would do is only replace the coupler thats between the transmission and the hydrostat. This thing is easy and fast to fix. Taking out the shaft in the transmission will take you some time, which could be valuable during harvest.
Put the new coupler on their and see if it would run. We had the same problem we just fixed the coupler and did the shaft in the transmission in winter.
good luck with repairing and harvest
