Some one said I should take the belt off the feeder house fan while combining corn. Is this common procedure?

I have never removed the belt on my 9650 in 5 years of corn and have not had any problems. Since that belt is inside the feeder house drive belts, removal would be a PITA. I have never ran flowers.

Our 9510 had a belt and it was so easy to disconnect. It even had a little bracket to let the belt stay attached. Our belt burn up in corn so we started disconnecting it.

I think the problem is the flowers are goosenecking on the cross shaft in the feererhouse and starting to burn there and spreading thruout the combine, mine were in the chopper area, when I took off the belt no more fires, also check the bottom side of the intake manifold I found 1 inch of charred sunflower dust there and since I hav eno more main engine gearcase smolders, good luck
