if you replace the concave, replace the concave angle as well. you can get it from abilene machine lots less than from deere. i went back with a st. john's weldeing concave and its been great ive cut approx 4000 acres of milo since the install and it looks brand new. one other suggestion is look into putting half sprockets on your feeder's rear shaft. i didnt do this but i saw them somewhere on the net after i replaced mine. the next go around on replacing them would be lots easier since you could just unbolt the sprockets and take each half off and put new ones on. would save lots of time on removing the feeder and having to take them off they way you usually do.

Yes, a young gun here looking for experienced combine advice. With me only being 22 I still have alot of learning to do. My question is on my 9610 with 3000 eng hrs and 2200 sep hrs and I am about to start tearing it down and getting it ready for next year and I know every combine is different but what I am looking for is some pointers that I should look for and replace with this many hrs. some things that i have already done is:
New shaker frames-went out this season
new straw walker bearings- before this past season
went through reverser gearbox- before as well
new rasp bars 400 sep hrs ago
things im thinking about doing
replacing feederhouse chain and sprockets
new concaves-??? don't really know if i need to
cylinder belt
centric bearings
new intercooler- some reason my fins got bent shut on 70% of it and on hot days it throws a code saying intake air to hot. tried to bend back but just didn't seem to work
also the last wk of running in the cab there was a howling noise coming from it sounded like the cylinder but could not ever trace it. no bearings were out anyone ever have this? thanks for the advice and help

Dont forget about back beater and beater grate,usually wore out same time as concave.Not much fun to change is season.

If you search, there is quite a list of wear parts on this forum. If the combine is local to you, that is a good thing. I'm guessing a used wheat machine, which is much better than a corn belt special.

Walker bearing blocks (change to wood), all five grain unload, return elevator, plastic guide blocks for belt tensioner bolts, feeder house floor, grain tank floor, horizontal returns auger, horizontal clean grain auger (under shoe) and there are lots more.

Almost every part needs to be inspected, especially if it moves material or material rubs against it. You don't know how many bushels or harvest conditions.

Its a good machine that is easily rebuildable for that many hours again. I would recommend reading all posts here for 9XXX walker machines. You will never be able to learn more cheaper.

Change oil in primary countershaft gearcase, look for loose gearcase mounting hardware or worn or torn rubber isolators. Also need to inspect the u-joints on the driveline to this gearcase. Check the driveshaft coupler splines for excessive wear. If one of these strips out in the wrong conditions it can cause problems. Check bearings on the unloading auger jackshaft. I could go on and on and on!
