The moisture sensor on a 9660 STS keeps running even after the combine has been turned off.

It is draining the batteries overnight and causing the alternator to fail due to the low voltage.

What could be causing that? We are thinking about putting a disconnect on the battery, but that doesn't solve the root problem.

I have heard many a problem with those moisture meters but never that sort of issue. That’s crazy,
I Can’t help but certainly a master switch on your batteries would be a quick temporary fix, or find the power wire on the moisture meter and just cut it for now? Do you really need it running for the remainder of your harvest?

Not really sure what sense jd uses but if it is an ag leader style there is a sensor plate in the top of sensor housing above the moisture sensor to trigger the motor to run the auger and empty the housing so it can refill from the elevator again.
This part may be faulty or there might be something stuck in there keeping it running.

Thank you for the replies. We finished up with harvest today, so will leave the moisture sensor unplugged until we have a chance to look at it... probably the day before next year's harvest. :)
