We are renting a 9760 STS from Machinery Link and have used it for a few days now. First experience ever with a full blown rotary because we also run a CTS II. I have been cutting 70-80 bu winter wheat around 2.5-3 mph with a JD 936D. I have no loss to speak of. I people like to bash the shoe size on the STS but so far I haven't found the shoe to be the limiting factor. This combine does have a hillside kit on the shoe. We will see next spring if it worked or not in my hills. Instead my limiting factor is the header. There is lots of straw that is tough and I could only go so fast before the sickle starts hammering. Already have thrown the sickle drive belt of a few times. Also, I was wondering what settings you guys use for wheat. I am trying to get the sample as the grain coming out of the CTS. With the CTS my dockage has been low as .1%. I set the STS by the book and tweaked it. Sample is good but wondering I can do a little bit better.
