We have run a 9770 for the past few years but this we have a 9870. I was wondering how they compare? Is it worth the extra money? We have run soybeans through it this year and can't believe the power difference. We can't wait to get it into corn with a 12 row chopping head. If I am right it has a 13.5L engine compared to the 9770's 9L, will it use a lot more fuel?
Thanks guys

Yes the 9870 will use more fuel, but if it is run by someone that knows what they are doing it will not use much more per acre than the 9770. This summer in wheat harvest we had a 9870 with a 36' draper and a 9770 with a 35' auger head running together. On the monitor the gallons per acre was always very similar. Granted the 9870 had the advantage with the draper head.
