Why does the ground speed on a r55 so much slower vs the r52 (5.8mph r55 r52 7.4) sure would be nice to have that extra speed. Ground speeds I put in is in 2nd gear scared to go to 3rd our ground stays soft at times.

It is the gears in the transmission and not the hydrostat. We used to change the gears in the transmission to slow the 72's down from the 7 plus mph to have more torque to pull hills and don't have to on the newer combines as they are already slowed down. I don't know if there has been any changes but check with your dealer and see if the faster gears can be put in like your older machine had.
