Ad Direct Hail Insurance, does anyone know anything about this company? It seem their hail insurance rates are quite a bit less than the rest of the conventional hail companies and we were wondering if the are legitimate.

Are legit but they are gonna use third party adjusters. They wanted to use municipal in sask but heard that never went through. As told to me by my insurance sales man. There rates weren't much cheaper then butler buyer but way cheaper then municipal for me anyway.

Yes they are real. We looked into them before we bought. I contacted the govt for info. They told me that Alliance would make sure all the claims would be paid and they would not give them a license if there was a concern. So even for the first year they would guarantee a payment. They do have adjusters in SK but dont know how good they will be. In MB and AB they just match the adjuster from the govt. I had entered something wrong and they helped out with really good service (actually better than my agent).

Hi, it's Bruce Lowe - CEO of AG Direct Hail. Sorry it took so long to respond...I just saw this. You are correct that we are backed by Allianz. With the Federal and Provincial regulations being what they are, you can't sell hail insurance without being completely licensed (and safe). With respect to adjusting, we will simply match the loss awards of MASC and AFSC in Manitoba and Alberta (we pass the savings onto to farmers in the form of lower premiums). In Saskatchewan, we recognize that we have to get the loss adjusting right. I hired Baillie Shewkenek as our Claims Manager and he has assembled a team of experienced adjsuters....no third party. They work for AG Direct. How do we get the rates so low?? Simple....we cut out the 10-12% broker commissions, have a low cost marketing and administration model and pass the savings on to hard working farmers. Visit www.agdirecthail.com for more info....our toll free number is there as well....we would like to answer any questions you may have. Bruce.

I hope it won't be like most private hail insurance, with adjusters that think the money is coming from their own pocket. Hopefully won't be any claims, but will be interested to read this thread this fall.

Don't like school teachers?
That's actually a funny story, I had one teacher all through school I liked , he had a old truck all redone, talked about that kinda stuff lots, pretty cool guy. So I thought. About, 5 yrs after graduation guess who comes for a hail adjustment. Absolute dink, I should of kicked him off the field. Apparently I was a naive kid thinking he was a good guy.

We looked at them and compared rates. Their rates are the same as the other line companies in our area and slightly higher than AFSC. Not cheaper as advertised. Unless they prove to have exceptional service (whatever that means) I would not bother with them.

Just click on the rates button at the top of their website

I just compared some rates from their website to what sask municipal hail is charging and also additional.

Ag direct ---SMHI--- AMHL

2.8 -- 2.38 -- 2.5
3.1 -- 3.99 -- 4.2
2.6-- 2.47 -- 2.6
2.8 -- 3 -- 2.6
2.4 -- 2.85-- 3
2.6 -- 2.4 -- 2.6
2.3-- 2.3-- 2.5

Also you don't have to pay your municipal till Sept 30th without penalty. Not much difference. I will buy mine at the RM office and maybe the administrator will remember to send the grader down my road once extra.

Well I just insured threw ag direct on a few quarters in alberta... You need to have same land insured threw Afsc for a minimum of 150per acre to be able to insure threw ag direct to a total of $200ac.... They also use the Afsc adjusting for damage

On sask land they have their own adjusters and no other requirements are needed

As for the same land in alberta I insured with ag direct it was a 3.6percent savings on the basic rate... Very impressed

As for prairie municipal it is .2 of a percent cheaper than municipal basic hail rate for the convince of online

Bruce Lowe - AG Direct Hail

Hello, it’s Bruce Lowe from AG Direct. To answer a previous question above, private line company brokers/agents make about 10 – 12% commission for “selling you” your policy. I would respectfully suggest that an interested farmer register and use our easy “rate checker” (located at the top of our website where it says “rates”. Checking our rates yourself ensures that you are getting the true rates for your land. Let's face it, some of these posts are from brokers and competitors that would prefer you take their word for it. On average, I expect to save farmers around 15% by cutting out costs that are added to traditional hail policies. In some cases it will be significantly more and in some case not as much. Simply, all companies rate townships different but other companies can’t cut the layers of costs out like we have. If you have comments or questions you can email us at [email protected] or call us toll free at 1.855.686.5596
