front 3 strand feeder chain 71149958 $1703
front 4 strand feeder chain 71412327 $1661
rear 3 strand chain $1338
rear 4 strand chain $1601
Why are they charging more for 3 strand in front?
Why is there so much difference with 3 strand from front to rear?
New john deere 9500 3 strand $850
Agco needs to be competitive in rebuilding these machines or they may loose customers.
I'm a gleaner man always have been, I farm and work on all makes of machines and gleaner has the strongest machine but we need to stay competitive

They know with their eyedropper volumes, the aftermarket does not want to handle many of their parts. I guess when you ask them how much for a part they reply "how much you got?" In time they will regret this attitude or it may indicate they don't have a company wide commitment to high horsepower row crop equipment. Check Shoup for their chain prices. They usually sell 'DRIVES' brand chain so be sure to ask if you order and make sure it has chrome pins.

I am a A&I dealer with lowen parts and yes there parts are good. I do know that Agco chain is better and will last longer. However price gouging on rebuilding machines will not sell a new machine. I try to stay with Oem when I can

Yea but you paid alot more for that JD than you will a Silver one.
Case IH feed chains are just as expensive and don't last near as long.
I have seen the Agco chains, sprokets, augers, and sickel sections last more than 40% longer than Case IH parts.

We have also tried aftermarket chains from Abilene Machine, Mikes, and others and none of them will touch the life of the Agco brand parts.
Just my two cents.

I do realize that agco dog bone looking chains are better and also sprockets, sprokets will last 2500 hrs. but the point I was getting at is the 4 strand is cheaper than the 3 strand on the front. The front chain is only about 1 foot longer and they want almost $400 more for that chain. I do know that if you buy individual replacement parts for that chain it may be that price but not on an assembled chain.
I also have done checks with gathering chains and this is where agco is not better. I run 2 rows agco, 2 rows hershal adams and 2 rows a chinese diamond brand (that our dealer recommends because they are half of agco price) and they all wore out at the same time. It is happening around this area that people are switching brand do to high parts prices. I don't know what a new case IH chain costs so I can't comment on that

The extremely high parts prices was the main reason I switched brands. I understand that gleaner has and uses less parts, but I got tired of feeling ripped off at the parts counter. But the other colors have learned from gleaner, so now the feeling is back. Ive had gleaners, axial flow, and now NH CR's, and parts prices even make seasoned parts counter guys shake their heads. Good Luck.

We have noticed this problem too, just the other day we needed an alternator for our R62 and went to our Agco dealer to get one, but didn't have one, so went to the Agco Harvest Support truck who had one but couldn't get it here untill afternoon so we said ok we'll take it, send us a bill, got back to town and figured we might as well check and see if our Cummins Mechanic had one, and sure enough he did, we ended up getting it so we could get running right away, and then just keep the one we got from agco for a spare. For the same exact alternator from our cummins mechanic it was $250, and the one from agco cost $550...

Not only the price but availability from Agco has been a issue. Had a customer ruin a baler hitch, not availably until October, drive belts on the new hay disc head not available until mid August. Not Good Agco, people need to run now.

We have the same problem with John Deere and all of our local parts stores. They have to pay inventory on thier parts and only stock the parts they can move fast, and order the rest in a day or two.
We deal with it everyday, and we had to get an alternator for the cotton stripper last fall and JD wanted $850 and we went to the local parts store and bought one for $400, so it's not just AGCO, everyone is in the same boat.
